| Soooo...... I think that subconsciously this has been the moment that I have been waiting for ever since coming to Boston. I have to say that there has not been a day this year that I have not thought about the Boston Marathon and whether or not doing this thing or that would affect me running the race....but it is finally here and I feel excitement, giddiness, as well as a little apprehension.... various small injuries throughout this season make me a little worried that I may not be able to finish without injury.... and that is all I want at this point! A fun and injury free run. :)
This is why I love Boston.... when there is an event like this one, the city comes alive! You see all of the ru nners in town, feel everyone's energy as well as the pulse of the city itself. Living a few blocks from the finish line and the runner's expo as well as the start and finish and entire route of the women's olympic trials today has been more than exciting! My favorite sight: the old asian people still running the race.... love seeing them with their boston marathon jackets and running shoes...so cool. I want to be one of them someday.
Anyway, if you get this in time, please pray that i run a safe race. Thanks! (the race is on Monday, April 21st, starting at 1030 am EST. You can watch on TV too!)

| It has been a while! However, I still love reading all of your entries.... as for me, a few updates..I am planning to take next year off from dental school to get an MPH degree at the Harvard School of Public Health. (I just finished the application yesterday!) It is a year long program that will give me more opoportunity to do more meaningful and population-wide work in my career in dentistry--organize community clinics, or international work, etc. I am going to Rochester, NY to have Thanksgiving with Ezra and Lily. She's on call on Thanksgiving day, but once she wakes up from her overnight shift, we will have a Friday Thanksgiving. She's doing well---just SUPER BUSY!!!! Birthday was gooood. Had some great eats made by Ming Tsai, Food Network extraordinaire...here's what I ordered: Sake-Miso Marinated Alaskan Butterfish - Wasabi Oil, Soy Syrup and Vegetarian Soba Noodle Sushi
Then dinner the next day at Koreana (Korean BBQ--go Bi Bim Bap!)
Thanks to everyone who called. It was so good to hear from all of you!!! Presented a research poster at the American Public Health Association:

| AIDS run with part of the Reach the Beach team!!
Then....tonight was one of the most amazing evenings EVER! I bought tickets at the last 20 sec of an ebay bid to go and see my ultimate favorite band in the whole wide world, Radiohead. After hopelessly looking for an extra ticket at the venue, through some very fortuitous event, we were able to get an extra ticket....but not jsut a regular ticket...first of all we got it for CHEap!! only $30, when i had just seen a transaction go through for over $100 and with tickets going on sale for up to $300. And that;s not the end of it! It was a VIP ticket, since hte person we bought it from , who was a former tutor of Norris' had connections with some lighting guy. In the END, this meant that Norris was able to go backstage for the aftershow.... and meet one of the legends and revolutionaries in ROCK music!!!! He's got five signatures to prove it too!! WOW. what an amazing show!

| This was a weekend of Berkeley friends and good times! What a fabulous weekend, really. Even though I was in the Boston area for the most part, I really felt like I wasn't here and like I wasn't really a student. Barbara (Philly), Pam (NYC) and Ivana (Boston) came over and we had a really full weekend. I love those women. Went to Earthfest, a free outdoor concert/Wholefoods sponsored event. Can we say freebies?? Providence, RI for a "Waterfire" exhibit, where they light torches on fire in the river that runs thru the city. Next day, church with Ivana, then 3 hours of outdoor swing dancing!!, then I took them to my new favorite spot in the greater Boston area----Mt Auburn Cemetary--which has the best view on top of a tower of ALL of Boston. we ended with a memorial day BBQ with Ivana's church friends. truthfully i haven't been around such a dense concentration of Asians in a long time! It made me feel wierd and distant. ANyhow, Barbs shed tears as she left...aww...love those people. | | |
| Ran a fun Blues & BBQ race today--a nice 4.1 miles around the Charles River here. It felt like summertime! You know, no worries, outdoors, good fun. I do like Boston, i do. It is so small and (somewhat) navigatable. Come visit. | | |
